The Phantasy Trio - Black and White Small

Since the trio’s formation they have enjoyed performing in concerts and competitions to critical acclaim and are looking forward to an increasingly busy performing schedule. The Phantasy Trio enjoys a continuing exploration of the repertoire for this exquisite and interesting combination in which the sound-worlds of each instrument work so well together, and are keen to commission new works as well as performing the more traditional repertoire. Their performance in the 2011 Cambridge Summer Music Festival was a complete sell out and inspired the audience to a standing ovation, and a return invitation. Following an invitation from the William Walton Trust, they enjoyed a tour to La Mortella, Ischia in Italy where they gave two highly successful concerts in the chamber music series which the trust supports. In the past two years they have made their debut at Colston Hall, Bristol, performed in Beaminster Music Festival, Newbury Spring Festival, Windsor Festival, Hertford Music Club, Wimbledon International Music Festival, Wycombe Arts Festival, Wooburn Festival, St Stephen’s Music Festival, Hinckely Music Society, Windsor and Eton Society, recital series promotoed by the Concordia Foundation, across London, in Windsor, Taplow, Oxford, Thorpe Bay and Cambridge amongst others.

Members of The Phantasy Trio won the Nancy Nutall Early Music Prize in 2012, were Highly Commended (2nd place) in the Harold Craxton Prize (2012), were awarded the Royal Academy of Music Friends and Benefactors Award in 2011. They also enjoyed partaking in masterclasses with Andrew Marriner, Angela Malsbury, Ian Brown and Michael Dussek, and recently have been performing a new work by pianist, Gregory Drott, for the trio.

In addition, they also perform on historical instruments, with members performing with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, inspired by what this brings to the music ans how it shapes the programmatic ideas that they are exploring. In the coming year they also look forward to education work, with Durston House School and the St Catharine’s Kellaway Society, which is an important part of their encompass.
